R718X

Purpose-designed for waste containers, the R718X mounts inside a bin lid and uses ultrasound to measure the distance to the contents from 0.2 to 3.5 metres, telling collection teams which bins are actually full. An integrated temperature sensor also flags overheating, useful for spotting fires in waste. Two AA-size lithium batteries run for around 4.7 years at 15-minute reporting over LoRaWAN, and the magnetic base or screw fixing allows installation in a few minutes. Distance accuracy is ±12 cm. Councils and facilities operators use it to schedule waste collections by fill level rather than fixed rounds, monitor recycling banks and skips, and manage bins in parks and public spaces.
